Vileplume is card #15/64 in the 1999 Pokemon Jungle set (Rare Holo, holofoil). It was printed in 1st Edition and Unlimited, and the 16 holo rares also exist as the famous No Set Symbol error. PSA has graded about 8,626 copies across its printings.
Print variants & how to tell them apart
1st Edition
The black 'Edition 1' stamp — a circle containing the number 1 — sits just left of the artwork, below the art box. Jungle has no shadowless printing, so a 1st Edition card is otherwise identical to Unlimited (same drop shadow, same set symbol). The first and smallest print run; commands a premium.
Unlimited
No stamp. The standard and by far the most common Jungle printing, with the set symbol (a rafflesia-like flower) in the lower-right of the art box. The only tell vs 1st Edition is the missing stamp — both have the drop shadow and the set symbol.
No Set Symbol (error)
An early Unlimited holo printing where the Jungle set symbol (the rafflesia flower) was accidentally left off the lower-right of the art box — the card has NO set symbol. Only the 16 holo rares (#1–16) exist this way. A famous, separately graded and registry-tracked error subset (PSA/CGC 'Jungle – No Symbol').

Attacks
40×Petal Dance[Grass Grass Grass]
Flip 3 coins. This attack does 40 damage times the number of heads. Vileplume is now Confused (after doing damage).
Pokémon Power: Heal
Once during your turn (before your attack), you may flip a coin. If heads, remove 1 damage counter from 1 of your Pokémon. This power can't be used if Vileplume is Asleep, Confused, or Paralyzed.
The larger its petals, the more toxic pollen it contains. Its big head is heavy and hard to hold up.
Market values are live TCGplayer prices for each printing. A dash means TCGplayer has no separate or active listing for that variant (e.g. the No Symbol error). As an eBay Partner & affiliate we may earn from qualifying purchases.
Jungle cards come in two editions: 1st Edition (a black 'Edition 1' stamp left of the art box) and Unlimited (no stamp; the standard, most common printing). Both carry the drop shadow and the rafflesia set symbol -- the only tell between them is the stamp (Jungle has no Shadowless or 1999-2000 printing). The 16 holo rares also exist as the famous No Set Symbol error: an early Unlimited holo run that is missing the set symbol in the lower-right of the art box.
Frequently asked questions
How many Vileplume (Jungle #15/64) cards have been graded?
PSA has graded about 8,626 Vileplume from the 1999 Pokemon Jungle set (3,128 1st Edition, 4,311 Unlimited, 1,187 No Set Symbol (error)); SGC has graded about 141.
What is the difference between 1st Edition and Unlimited Vileplume?
1st Edition and Unlimited Vileplume are identical except the stamp: 1st Edition carries a black 'Edition 1' stamp to the left of the art box, while Unlimited has none. Jungle has no Shadowless or 1999-2000 printing, so the stamp is the only tell. As one of the 16 holo rares, Vileplume also exists as the famous No Set Symbol error - an early Unlimited holo run missing the rafflesia set symbol from the lower-right of the art box.
How much is a Vileplume worth?
The TCGplayer market price for Vileplume is about $43.1 for Unlimited and about $90.97 for 1st Edition. The No Symbol error has no separate TCGplayer listing; check the live links for current sales.
