How We Build Our Checklists and Tools
T206 Cards builds and runs its own software: the checklists, tools and guides on this site, and the systems behind our catalog. Here’s what’s live, how it’s made and where we use AI.

Collector tools
- Card Centering Calculator. Measures border ratios from a scan and shows the PSA, SGC and BGS tolerances they meet. It runs in your browser and uploads nothing.
- Pre-Grade Estimator. Turns your read of centering, corners, edges and surface into a likely grade, and names the flaw that caps it.
- Grade & Crossover Helper. Weighs whether a raw card is worth grading, or a slab worth crossing to another grader.
- Trading Card Size & Trimming Check. Compares a card's measurements with the known size for its issue, from 1880s tobacco cards to modern.
- T206 Authentication & Reprint Check. Screens a T206 against the tells of reprints and fakes, including which players were printed with which backs.
Guides
- Card Storage & Care Guide. How to store, protect and handle your cards.
- Card Collecting Glossary. More than 240 hobby terms, defined in plain language.
- Trading Card Size Guide. The known dimensions of cards from 1880s tobacco issues to modern.
- Collecting T206 Baseball Cards. The history of the set, its backs ranked by scarcity, and how to build a collection.
- How to Value Sports Cards. Where to find comparable sales and how to read them.

How the checklists are made
Each checklist starts with research. AI agents compile the card list, variations and details from published sources such as PSA CardFacts, Beckett, TCDB and Bulbapedia. Our build tools then generate the checklist from that research and check every count before anything ships. Once a checklist is live, an automated audit checks the published pages against what we built.
Population figures come from PSA and SGC reports, and each checklist shows when they were pulled. Player bios are researched from cited sources. Since September 2026, every new bio is also checked claim by claim against those sources by a separate AI review, and it can’t be published until that check passes.
Where we use AI
We use AI to research checklist data and player bios from cited sources, to draft guides, site pages and product listings, and to check our images and pages for errors.
We don’t use AI for the math in our collector tools, for population counts, which come straight from PSA and SGC, or to create or alter product photos.
People stay in the loop. Emma, our AI Content Reviewer, reviews AI-drafted guides and site pages before they’re published, and every batch of product listings is approved before it goes live.
Our listings
Our single-card listings are written from our own photos of each card. The grader, grade and certification number are checked against the slab in the photo, and a person approves every batch before it goes live. The same process keeps catalog details consistent across more than 11,000 single cards, which is what makes the shop’s filters work.
