PSA Card & Memorabilia Authentication & Grading
The universally-recognized industry leader of sports grading and authentication services, PSA is the go-to recommendation for high-value collectibles being prepared for sale.
Owned by Collector's Universe, PSA uniquely offers a graded card registry in which collectors compete to build the highest-grade sets, providing an additional incentive to choose this grader.
The downside is that PSA submissions reguarly take longer than the service level promises. For standard submissions, be prepared to wait up to 90 days.
SGC Card Grading
Also now owned by Collector's Universe, SGC has been a long-time favorite of vintage collectors and has recently grown rapidly, grading more and more modern cards including trading card games.
Key benefits to grading with SGC include lower prices, faster turnaround-times, fewer upcharges and more-reliable customer support. If you're grading cards you intend to keep long term, and especially if they're vintage, SGC is the way to go.
CGC Card, Magazine & Card Grading
Most popular among collectors of trading card games and comics, CGC is part of CCG (Certified Collectables Group). CCG also owns grading companies of other types of collectibles: NGC (coins), PMG (paper money) and ASG (stamps).
CGC has also grown rapidly over the past few years, specifically through grading tens of thousands of Pokémon cards. CGC slabs are uniquely beautiful, although they haven't gained notable favor among vintage or sports collectors just yet. For autographed magazines, they also offer an authentication service thanks to CCG's recent acquistion of James Spence (JSA).
