1961 Topps #273 Checklist 265-352 (4th Series)

About this card
The seven checklist cards (#17, 98, 189, 273, 361, 437, 516) were the first numbered checklists in a Topps set. The first was printed with the series it lists; each later checklist was printed with the series before the one it lists.
The story on this card
No player poses on #273: it is the fourth-series checklist, numbers 265 through 352, the run that carries Mantle at #300, Musial at #290 and the eight-card 1960 World Series subset. The front carries a Wrigley Field action shot, not a portrait; collectors have read the uniform numbers as Cubs Ed Bouchee, Glen Hobbie and Don Zimmer arguing an infield call. Two states split it: on 273a the copyright line sits beside #336 Don Mincher, on 273b beside #339 Gene Baker, and graded population runs about half as deep on the #339 state, making 273b the tougher of the two. 1961's scarce run is #523-589.

Graded population — a scarcity guide, not a price. Data as of 2026-09-04. PSA counts are straight grades only; PSA half grades (PSA 1.5 among them) and qualified slabs are not included. SGC half grades fold down (8.5→8). Where a grader registers a variation separately its population is listed under that variation. SGC also lists 17 slabs on this number under labels that cannot be matched to one variation (“Copyright Ends By 5th Name” 8; “Copyright Ends By Top Name” 9); they are not counted in any line above. Slabs of the two cards printed #463 are joined by description, never by number alone.
