About this card

The seven checklist cards (#17, 98, 189, 273, 361, 437, 516) were the first numbered checklists in a Topps set. The first was printed with the series it lists; each later checklist was printed with the series before the one it lists.

The story on this card

The set's sixth checklist runs 430 through 506 -- Mazeroski, Cepeda, Duke Snider, Gil Hodges -- on a card that itself belongs to print series 5. 1961 was the first year Topps numbered checklists into the set, one for each of the seven series. Two states are collected here, separated by a single line: the first printing lists 440 as Louis Aparicio, the corrected one spells the White Sox shortstop's name Luis. The photo crop differs with it, the umpire's mask cut off on the error and fully visible on the fix. The set's scarce run starts at 523. The catch is condition: checklists were made to be marked, and unmarked copies are what collectors chase.

Graded population — a scarcity guide, not a price. Data as of 2026-09-04. PSA counts are straight grades only; PSA half grades (PSA 1.5 among them) and qualified slabs are not included. SGC half grades fold down (8.5→8). Where a grader registers a variation separately its population is listed under that variation. Slabs of the two cards printed #463 are joined by description, never by number alone.
