1961 Topps #7 Chicago White Sox Team
Hall of Famers on the 1960 Chicago White Sox roster: Luis Aparicio, Nellie Fox, Al Lopez, Minnie Minoso and Early Wynn.

About this card
The sixteen team cards pair a club photo with the previous season's record. Neither 1961 expansion club, the Los Angeles Angels or the new Washington Senators, has one.
The story on this card
Topps' 1961 team card catches the White Sox a year removed from their pennant: 87-67 in 1960, third in the American League, ten games behind the Yankees. Al Lopez's club was murder at Comiskey Park, 51-26 at home, and took 17 of 22 from Boston, but lost the season series to both New York and Baltimore. Five future Hall of Famers dressed for it - Lopez, the Luis Aparicio-Nellie Fox double-play pair, Early Wynn atop the staff in starts and innings, and Minnie Minoso, back from Cleveland in a December trade and hitting .311 with 105 RBI. That club was also the first in the majors to put player names on the backs of its uniforms. Card 7 is a first-series team card.
