About this card

The sixteen team cards pair a club photo with the previous season's record. Neither 1961 expansion club, the Los Angeles Angels or the new Washington Senators, has one.

The story on this card

The card reports Cleveland's 1960 season at Municipal Stadium: a fourth-place finish at 76-78, 21 games behind the champion Yankees. April upended the year when the Indians shipped 1959 AL home run king Rocky Colavito to Detroit for 1959 batting champion Harvey Kuenn, a swap Cleveland fans never forgave. On August 3 the two clubs went further and exchanged managers outright, Joe Gordon to Detroit for Jimmy Dykes, the only manager-for-manager trade in big-league history. Gordon, a Hall of Fame second baseman in his playing days, had run the club to that point. Jim Perry's 18 wins led the American League, and Vic Power and Tito Francona anchored the lineup. Card #467 is the team card, from print series 6.
