The story on this card

This team card reports the 1960 St. Louis Cardinals, who went 86-68 under manager Solly Hemus, finished third in the National League and improved fifteen games on the prior season, ending nine games behind the World Champion Pittsburgh Pirates. Ken Boyer hit .304 with 32 homers and 97 RBI, Ernie Broglio went 21-9, Lindy McDaniel saved 27 games, and Gold Gloves went to Boyer at third and Bill White at first. Two Hall of Famers were on the club: Stan Musial, hitting .275 with 17 home runs at thirty-nine, and a 24-year-old Bob Gibson, 3-6, not yet the ace he became. Home was Busch Stadium, the old Sportsman's Park, with Harry Caray and Joe Garagiola on KMOX. Number 347 sits in the fourth print series.
