The story on this card
Card 451 in the 1963 Topps set is the Cleveland Indians team card, part of the sixth print series as a semi-high number. It reports Cleveland's 1962 season, when the Indians finished sixth in the American League at 80-82 under manager Mel McGaha, sixteen games behind the pennant-winning Yankees. The club stood 48-36 at the All-Star break before a long slide dropped it into the lower half of the standings, then rallied to win 22 of its final 40 games. Cleveland was one of only two AL clubs to beat the Yankees in their season series that year, taking 11 of 18, while splitting 9-9 with the last-place Senators. The Indians played their home games at Cleveland Municipal Stadium on Lake Erie.
