The story on this card

Card 312 is the Houston Colt .45's team card in the 1963 Topps set, part of the fourth print series and reporting on the club's 1962 season, its first in the National League. Houston entered the league as an expansion club alongside the New York Mets, drafted its roster in the 1961 expansion draft, and played its home games at Colt Stadium. The Colt .45's finished the 1962 season 64-96-2, in eighth place among ten NL clubs, more than thirty-six games behind the pennant-winning San Francisco Giants. Pitcher Turk Farrell, the club's first All-Star, represented the young franchise at both 1962 All-Star Games. This is a plain team card, and its roster photo stands in for a single player, fitting the team-card subset Topps ran across its 1963 set.
