About this card

The twenty team cards, one for every 1963 club, are the only horizontal fronts in the set. Every franchise has one, including the Houston Colt .45's, the Los Angeles Angels and the expansion Washington Senators.

The story on this card

This team card reports on the 1962 Milwaukee Braves, who finished fifth in the National League at 86-76, fifteen and a half games behind the pennant-winning San Francisco Giants, with a losing road record (37-44) but a winning mark at home in County Stadium (49-32). Card 503 is a semi-high number, in the sixth of seven print series in the 1963 Topps set. The roster panel carries four future Hall of Famers still playing together in Milwaukee: Hank Aaron, Eddie Mathews, Warren Spahn, and Joe Torre, the kind of concentrated talent that kept the club competitive even in an off year.
