It reports on the 1962 club, which improved to a 91-71 record and finished second in the American League, five games behind the World Champion New York Yankees at Metropolitan Stadium in Bloomington. Harmon Killebrew led the league with 48 home runs and 126 RBI that season, while Jim Kaat won his first Gold Glove and Tony Oliva made his major league debut in September. All three future Hall of Famers were part of the roster the card commemorates. It was the franchise's first winning season in ten years, since their days as the Washington Senators in 1952.
