The story on this card
Card 417 reports the 1962 season, when the Giants went 101-61 to finish the schedule tied atop the National League with the Dodgers, forcing a three-game tiebreaker at Candlestick Park and Dodger Stadium. San Francisco won two of three, finishing 103-62, to claim its first National League pennant since moving west, then fell to the Yankees in a seven-game World Series. The roster pictured on this team card carried five future Hall of Famers: Orlando Cepeda, Juan Marichal, Willie Mays, Willie McCovey, and Gaylord Perry, playing in front of manager Alvin Dark. This is the team-card subset entry for the Giants, part of Topps' fifth series for the year.
