About this card

The story on this card
This team card reports the 1962 season, when the Cardinals went 84-78 under manager Johnny Keane and finished sixth in the National League, seventeen and a half games behind the pennant-winning Giants, playing their home games at Busch Stadium (formerly Sportsman's Park) in front of just under 954,000 fans. The roster panel carried four future Hall of Famers from that club: Bob Gibson and Curt Simmons anchored a rotation that included Ernie Broglio and Ray Sadecki, Stan Musial was in the twilight of his career as the veteran bat, Minnie Minoso had joined the club that year, and Red Schoendienst was on hand as a veteran infielder. Card number 524 is a high number from the set's seventh and final print series, part of the team card subset that ran through the checklist.
