1964 Topps #438 6th Series Checklist: 430-506

About this card
The seven checklist cards (#76, 102, 188, 274, 362, 438, 517) carry the blocks 1-88, 89-176, 177-264, 265-352, 353-429, 430-506 and 507-587 - none of them a real print series. The print series (1-109 / 110-196 / 197-283 / 284-370 / 371-446 / 447-522 / 523-587) are what decide how hard a card is to find.
The story on this card
Card 438 in the 1964 Topps set is the sixth series checklist, listing card numbers 430 through 506 so collectors could check off that run as they filled it. The checklist itself was issued in the fifth print series, while the block it lists runs mostly into the sixth; the high numbers begin with the seventh and final series, which closes the 587-card set. Like the set's other checklist cards, it carries no photograph of a player, just a listing of numbers next to boxes for penciling in ownership. The card draws interest mainly from set builders and checklist specialists rather than player-collectors, since no ballplayer is pictured on its face.

The seven checklist cards (#76, 102, 188, 274, 362, 438, 517) carry the blocks 1-88, 89-176, 177-264, 265-352, 353-429, 430-506 and 507-587 - none of them a real print series. How many cards are in the 1964 Topps Baseball set?
587 cards, tracked as 589 collectible states. Numbers run from 1 to 587 with no gaps, and no number carries two different cards; two cards - #4, the A.L. Pitching Leaders, and #517, the seventh-series checklist - carry a catalogued back variation that the master set counts separately.
