The story on this card

This team card in the 1964 Topps set carries the Baltimore Orioles team photo and reports their 1963 season, when the club finished fourth in the American League at 86-76 under manager Billy Hitchcock, well back of the pennant-winning Yankees at Memorial Stadium. Steve Barber anchored the staff with 20 wins, while newly acquired shortstop Luis Aparicio started at short and made the All-Star team, veteran right-hander Robin Roberts worked 35 games for the rotation, and Brooks Robinson played 161 of the club's 162 games, 160 of them at third base. Card #473 falls in the sixth series of the set. The Orioles were on the rise in this era, building the pitching-and-defense identity that would carry the club to a championship a few years later.
