1964 Topps #343 Washington Senators
Hall of Famers on the 1963 Washington Senators roster: Gil Hodges and Minnie Minoso.

About this card
Nineteen of the twenty 1964 franchises have a team card; the Houston Colt .45s are the one club without one.
The story on this card
This team card reports a rough 1963 season: the Senators went 56-106, landing in last place in the American League, their second straight cellar finish since moving to D.C. Stadium. Mickey Vernon and Eddie Yost each managed a stretch before Gil Hodges took over the club in late May after arriving in a trade for Jimmy Piersall, folding his playing days into a new job running the dugout. Outfielder Minnie Minoso, picked up that spring, played 109 games at the tail end of a long career. The card belongs to print series 4 in the 1964 Topps set.
