About this card

Nineteen team cards cover twenty clubs - Houston has none. Three of them, #303 Indians, #326 Braves and #404 Pirates, were printed with and without a dot between the standings line and the league name in the band at the foot of the front, and both states are tracked here.

The story on this card

This team card carries the Atlanta Braves' new city name, but the record on the back reports the 1965 Milwaukee Braves' final season in that city: a fifth-place finish in the National League at 86-76, eleven games behind the champion Los Angeles Dodgers, under manager Bobby Bragan at County Stadium. It closed out a run of thirteen consecutive winning seasons in Milwaukee, even as attendance sank below 600,000 amid the looming move to Atlanta for 1966. The club's roster carried four future Hall of Famers: Hank Aaron, Eddie Mathews, Phil Niekro and Joe Torre. The front comes in two printing states - a dot versus no dot between the '5TH PLACE' and 'NATIONAL LEAGUE' lines - and both are tracked here. Card #326 belongs to print series four of the 1966 Topps set.
