About this card

Nineteen team cards cover twenty clubs - Houston has none. Three of them, #303 Indians, #326 Braves and #404 Pirates, were printed with and without a dot between the standings line and the league name in the band at the foot of the front, and both states are tracked here.

The story on this card

This team card reports the 1965 Chicago White Sox, who finished second in the American League at 95-67, seven games behind the pennant-winning Minnesota Twins, with a strong 48-33 mark at home. Al Lopez managed the club through that campaign, his final full season at the helm before stepping away. The club carried two future Hall of Famers: Lopez himself and knuckleball reliever Hoyt Wilhelm, a bullpen fixture on a pitching staff that helped keep the Sox in the race all year. Card number 426 belongs to Topps' fifth series for 1966, the standard team-card format of the era, with the full White Sox roster and coaching staff pictured together rather than a single player.

Where SGC registers no separate row for a variation state, its slabs of that card are listed under the base state.
