About this card

Nineteen team cards cover twenty clubs - Houston has none. Three of them, #303 Indians, #326 Braves and #404 Pirates, were printed with and without a dot between the standings line and the league name in the band at the foot of the front, and both states are tracked here.

The story on this card

This team card reports a rough 1965 for the Yankees, a 77-85 sixth-place finish in the American League under manager Johnny Keane, 25 games behind the pennant-winning Twins. It was the club's first season since 1925 without a first-division finish, a jolt for an organization used to winning. Whitey Ford still logged 16 wins against 13 losses with a 3.24 ERA over 244.1 innings, while Mickey Mantle, limited to 122 games, hit .255 with 19 home runs and made the All-Star team despite the down year for the team around him. Card 92 is part of the first print series.
