The story on this card
Card 573 is the Chicago White Sox team card, a high number from the seventh and final series of the 1967 Topps set. In 1966 Eddie Stanky's Sox went 83-79, good for fourth place in the American League, 15 games behind the pennant-winning Baltimore Orioles. The 1966 roster was led by center fielder Tommie Agee, third baseman Don Buford, and starters Tommy John, Gary Peters, and Joe Horlen. Out of the bullpen, Hall of Fame knuckleballer Hoyt Wilhelm worked 46 games with a 1.66 ERA and 6 saves, anchoring a pitching staff built around contact and defense at old Comiskey Park. The front carries a posed team photo above the WHITE SOX nickname, the design every 1967 team card shares.
