The story on this card
Card #378 in the 1967 Topps set is a print series 5 issue, and it is a team card. Its back carries the Detroit Tigers' 1966 batting and pitching leaders, and the card reports the 1966 season: an 88-74 record, third place in the American League, ten games behind the world champion Baltimore Orioles. Manager Chuck Dressen was sidelined in May by a heart attack; interim skipper Bob Swift was hospitalized with illness during the All-Star break, and Frank Skaff finished the season in the dugout. The roster included Hall of Famer Al Kaline, who batted .288 with 29 home runs and 88 RBIs, and right-hander Earl Wilson, acquired from Boston in June, who went 13-6 with a 2.59 ERA for Detroit. Tiger Stadium drew just over 1.1 million fans that year.
