1967 Topps #42 New York Mets
Hall of Famers on the 1966 New York Mets roster: Nolan Ryan.

About this card
Nineteen of the twenty 1967 franchises have a team card; Houston has none for the fourth straight year - its last was the 1963 Colt .45's card. The Kansas City Athletics card is the franchise's last before the move to Oakland.
The story on this card
This team card reports on the 1966 Mets, who went 66-95 under manager Wes Westrum at Shea Stadium, finishing ninth in the National League. It marked real progress for the young club: for the first time in franchise history the Mets avoided both the National League cellar and a 100-loss season. The 1966 roster included names fans would come to know well: center fielder Cleon Jones, second baseman Ron Hunt, third baseman Ken Boyer and first baseman Ed Kranepool. The year also introduced a teenage right-hander who debuted on the mound in 1966 and went on to a Hall of Fame career, Nolan Ryan. Card 42, from Topps' first series in 1967, pairs a posed team photo on the front with the club's 1966 batting and pitching leaders and each pitcher's record against every opponent on the back.
