About Foley White
Foley Byron White (born August 5, 1882 in Texas; died December 11, 1955 in Dallas) was a catcher and outfielder who spent his entire professional career in the low minor leagues, never reaching the majors. Per Baseball-Reference, he played roughly a decade between 1905 and 1915 across the Texas League and lower Class C and D circuits, suiting up for clubs including Temple (where he hit .291 in 1907), Mobile, Shreveport, Galveston, Waco, Dallas, Brownsville, and Ardmore, finishing with about 366 hits and a .242 average over the recorded seasons. His T206 card lists him with Houston: White was on the Houston Buffaloes roster in the spring of 1909 (a March 23, 1909 Houston Daily Post box score has him in left field with a triple and a stolen home) when the set's Southern Leaguers were chosen, but he was released before the Texas League season opened and moved to Waco, splitting his 80 catching games that year between the two clubs. No documented nickname survives. As a Southern League subject printed only in 1909-1910 with just Piedmont 350 and Old Mill backs, his card is one of the set's scarcer, sought-after Southern Leaguers.
