This card depicts Jack White, a member of the historic Buffalo Bisons (Eastern League), and was printed in the 350 Only series, known with 10 tobacco-brand backs. Across PSA and SGC, roughly 901 examples have been graded, with only 23 in NM 7 or better — a reminder of how tough this issue is in high grade.

About Jack White

Jack White — born John Wallace White on January 19, 1878, in Traders Point, Indiana — was a career minor-league left fielder whose long run in the Eastern League earned him a T206 card as a Buffalo Bison. The 5-foot-6 right-handed hitter broke into pro ball as a 17-year-old in 1895, playing for Indianapolis, Jacksonville/Springfield and Quincy in the Western circuits. From 1897 he became an Eastern League fixture, starring for Toronto (where he batted .312 in 1897 and .313 in 1903) and for Buffalo, whom he anchored across several stints — most notably the 1906–1911 seasons that produced his tobacco card. His lone taste of the majors came on June 26, 1904, when he appeared in one game for the National League's Boston club and went 0-for-5; that single hitless afternoon was his entire big-league record. He compiled roughly 1,795 hits over 19 minor-league seasons for about a .284 average, finishing with Syracuse in the New York State League in 1912–1913. He died in Indianapolis in 1963. As an obscure minor-leaguer, Jack White is one of the T206 set's more common and affordable subjects rather than a scarce star.
