About Jack Chesbro
Born 1874 in North Adams, MA (d. 1931), Jack Chesbro was a right-handed pitcher who debuted in 1899 and played 11 major-league seasons. He went 198-132 with a 2.68 ERA and 1,265 strikeouts across 392 appearances. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1946. In 1904 he won 41 games, still the modern-era (post-1900) single-season record for pitcher victories.
