About Tris Speaker
Born 1888 in Hubbard, TX (d. 1958), Tris Speaker was a left-handed outfielder who debuted in 1907 and played 22 major-league seasons. He batted .345 with 3,514 hits, 117 home runs, and 432 stolen bases in 2,789 games. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1937. The center fielder nicknamed 'The Grey Eagle' retired with 792 career doubles, which remains the all-time Major League record.
