The story on this card
Topps gave number 306 to the opening game of the 1960 World Series, played October 5 at Forbes Field, and the front pictures Pirates center fielder Bill Virdon, with second baseman Bill Mazeroski, in uniform 9, in the foreground. Pittsburgh scored three in the first off Art Ditmar, Virdon walking, stealing second and coming home on Dick Groat's double. The Pirates led 3-1 in the fourth when Yogi Berra drove one into right-center with two aboard; Virdon ran it down a step shy of the wall, brushing past Roberto Clemente, and Danny Murtaugh called it the play of the game. Bill Mazeroski homered in the bottom half, Virdon doubled in a sixth-inning run, Vern Law won it, and Roy Face closed out the 6-4 opener. It is a fourth-series card from the set's World Series subset.
