1962 Topps #516 Checklist 507-598

About this card
The seven checklist cards (#22, 98, 192, 277, 367, 441, 516) list the set in 88-card blocks - 1-88, 89-176, 177-264, 265-352, 353-429, 430-506, 507-598 - that lag the real print series, which is why the high numbers are sometimes wrongly said to start at #507. Four of them exist in more than one state: #22 with a correct or an error back, #192 with and without a comma (and tinted), #441 in large or small print and #516 with white or yellow boxes.
The story on this card
Card 516 is the seventh and last checklist in the 1962 Topps set, covering the longest stretch of any of them: 507 through 598. Topps issued it with the sixth series, 447 through 522, even though most of what it lists is the seventh series that makes this set hard to finish. Bob Gibson, Willie McCovey and the eight-card Rookie Parade all sit inside that range. No player is pictured; the numbered boxes print on the front. Two versions are collected apart, white checkboxes for 516a and yellow for 516b, and they came off the sheets in about equal numbers, so either fills the slot.
Print variations
Two states of #516 are tracked individually: 516a - White Boxes and 516b - Yellow Boxes. The difference is on the front of the card (checklist color).
States catalogued by the PSA master set registry; each is tracked here individually.

Graded population — a scarcity guide, not a price. Snapshot 2026-09-24. Half-grades fold down (8.5→8), and PSA's qualified grades are counted separately from the straight-grade rows shown here. Where a grader registers a variation separately its population is listed under that variation. Slabs of the three cards printed #139 are joined by description, never by number alone. PSA registers the green tints as a separate set; a tint's population is listed under that state of the card it belongs to.

Does 1962 Topps #516 have variations?
Yes. Two states are catalogued and tracked separately: 516a - White Boxes (White boxes - the version PSA lists first, the hobby "A" version) and 516b - Yellow Boxes (Yellow boxes). Owning any one of them fills the #516 slot; the master set counts each state.
How many cards are in the 1962 Topps Baseball set?
600 cards, tracked as 708 collectible states. The numbers run from 1 to 598 with no gaps, but three different cards were printed #139 - two Hal Reniff poses, catalogued 139a and 139b, and the Babe Hits 60 Babe Ruth Special, 139c - so 598 numbers make 600 cards; 93 cards carry catalogued print variations, the series-2 green tints among them, that the master set counts separately.
