About this card

This is one of the eighteen team cards in the set. Neither 1962 expansion club, the New York Mets or the Houston Colt .45s, has one.

The story on this card

The 1962 Topps team card looks back at the 1961 Chicago White Sox, 86-76 and fourth in the American League, 23 games behind the pennant-winning Yankees under manager Al Lopez. Five future Hall of Famers fill the roster panel: Luis Aparicio at short, Nellie Fox at second, Minnie Minoso in left, Early Wynn in the rotation, and Lopez on the bench. Chicago drew 1,146,019 to Comiskey Park, fourth-best in the league, in the season poor health forced Bill Veeck to sell the club. The staff served up 13 of Roger Maris's 61 homers, most of any team. Card #113 sits in print series 2. Series two saw two printings: 113b carries the green tint from the flawed early run; 113a does not.

Graded population — a scarcity guide, not a price. Snapshot 2026-09-24. Half-grades fold down (8.5→8), and PSA's qualified grades are counted separately from the straight-grade rows shown here. Where a grader registers a variation separately its population is listed under that variation. Slabs of the three cards printed #139 are joined by description, never by number alone. PSA registers the green tints as a separate set; a tint's population is listed under that state of the card it belongs to.
