The story on this card
Card 537 is the Cleveland Indians team card, a high number from the seventh and final series of the 598-card, wood-grain 1962 Topps set - a team issue. It reports 1961, when Cleveland finished fifth in the newly expanded ten-team American League at 78-83 under Jimmy Dykes, 30 1/2 games behind the Yankees, who beat them 14 times in 18 meetings. A 22-4 burst ran them to 34-17 and first place in June for the second straight year; they went 44-66 from there. The Municipal Stadium club pictured here had Jimmy Piersall at .322, Tito Francona at .301, Willie Kirkland's 27 homers and All-Star starters Johnny Romano and Johnny Temple. Gabe Paul took over as general manager that April.

Graded population — a scarcity guide, not a price. Snapshot 2026-09-24. Half-grades fold down (8.5→8), and PSA's qualified grades are counted separately from the straight-grade rows shown here. Slabs of the three cards printed #139 are joined by description, never by number alone. PSA registers the green tints as a separate set; a tint's population is listed under that state of the card it belongs to.

What is the 1962 Topps #537 card?
It is card #537 of the 600-card 1962 Topps Baseball set, picturing the Cleveland Indians. This is one of the eighteen team cards in the set. Neither 1962 expansion club, the New York Mets or the Houston Colt .45s, has one.

How many cards are in the 1962 Topps Baseball set?
600 cards, tracked as 708 collectible states. The numbers run from 1 to 598 with no gaps, but three different cards were printed #139 - two Hal Reniff poses, catalogued 139a and 139b, and the Babe Hits 60 Babe Ruth Special, 139c - so 598 numbers make 600 cards; 93 cards carry catalogued print variations, the series-2 green tints among them, that the master set counts separately.
