The story on this card

Card 24 is the Detroit Tigers team card in the 1962 Topps first series, a club portrait inside the set's peeling-sticker wood-grain border. It reports the 1961 Tigers, who won 101 games to match the 1934 franchise record and still finished second, eight games behind the pennant-winning Yankees; they led the league until July 25 before a three-game sweep at Yankee Stadium in September ended it. Norm Cash took the batting title at .361 with 41 homers and 132 RBIs, Rocky Colavito hit 45 and drove in 140, and Hall of Famer Al Kaline batted .324 with a league-best 41 doubles. Frank Lary went 23-9 with an AL-high 22 complete games, and fellow Hall of Famer Jim Bunning was 17-11. Bob Scheffing's first Detroit club led the league in runs and played at newly renamed Tiger Stadium.

Graded population — a scarcity guide, not a price. Snapshot 2026-09-24. Half-grades fold down (8.5→8), and PSA's qualified grades are counted separately from the straight-grade rows shown here. Slabs of the three cards printed #139 are joined by description, never by number alone. PSA registers the green tints as a separate set; a tint's population is listed under that state of the card it belongs to.
