1962 Topps #384 Kansas City Athletics Team

About this card
This is one of the eighteen team cards in the set. Neither 1962 expansion club, the New York Mets or the Houston Colt .45s, has one.
The story on this card
This card reports 1961, the Athletics' first season under Charles O. Finley, who bought control in December 1960 and burned a bus pointed toward New York to end the Yankees pipeline. He repainted Municipal Stadium's seats yellow, turquoise and orange, put sheep beyond right field, and had a mechanical rabbit deliver baseballs to the umpire. The baseball was thinner: 61-100, tied with Washington for ninth and last in the new ten-team American League, 47 1/2 games behind the champion Yankees. Hall of Fame second baseman Joe Gordon opened as manager and outfielder Hank Bauer finished. Norm Siebern hit .296 with 98 RBI; rookie shortstop Dick Howser stole 37 bases and made the All-Star team. Number 384 is print series 5.

Graded population — a scarcity guide, not a price. Snapshot 2026-09-24. Half-grades fold down (8.5→8), and PSA's qualified grades are counted separately from the straight-grade rows shown here. Slabs of the three cards printed #139 are joined by description, never by number alone. PSA registers the green tints as a separate set; a tint's population is listed under that state of the card it belongs to.
