The story on this card
Card 409 in the 1962 Topps set is the Pittsburgh Pirates team card, issued in the fifth print series - a regular-series card. It reports the 1961 season, when the defending world champions slid to sixth place in the National League at 75-79, eighteen games behind the pennant-winning Cincinnati Reds, with Danny Murtaugh still managing and Forbes Field still home. Two Hall of Famers carried over from the 1960 title club: Roberto Clemente, who took the first of his four National League batting crowns at .351 with 201 hits, and second baseman Bill Mazeroski, whose Game 7 home run had ended that World Series and who won another Gold Glove in 1961.

Graded population — a scarcity guide, not a price. Snapshot 2026-09-24. Half-grades fold down (8.5→8), and PSA's qualified grades are counted separately from the straight-grade rows shown here. Slabs of the three cards printed #139 are joined by description, never by number alone. PSA registers the green tints as a separate set; a tint's population is listed under that state of the card it belongs to.
