About this card
The seven checklist cards (#76, 102, 188, 274, 362, 438, 517) carry the blocks 1-88, 89-176, 177-264, 265-352, 353-429, 430-506 and 507-587 - none of them a real print series. The print series (1-109 / 110-196 / 197-283 / 284-370 / 371-446 / 447-522 / 523-587) are what decide how hard a card is to find.
The story on this card
Card 188 is a checklist card from Topps' 1964 baseball set, printed in the set's second series and listing the numbers 177 through 264 under its printed heading, 3rd Series, although the third print series actually ran 197-283. It carries no player photograph, since checklist issues used the space for the printed list of names and numbers set-builders checked off as they filled each series. Because checklists rode along in wax packs and got marked up, folded, and creased in everyday use, surviving examples in clean, unchecked condition are harder to find than most cards from the same series, which is the main appeal for collectors assembling a high-grade set.
