The story on this card

This team card reports the 1963 Chicago White Sox, who went 94-68 under manager Al Lopez, finishing second in the American League, 10 and a half games behind the pennant-winning Yankees. Gary Peters anchored the rotation with a 19-8 record and a 2.33 ERA, while Hoyt Wilhelm worked the bullpen with 21 saves. Nellie Fox held down second base and made the All-Star team, and Pete Ward drove in 84 runs in his rookie season. The club played at Comiskey Park on the South Side. This card is number 496 in the 1964 Topps set, part of print series six. Fox, Lopez, and Wilhelm, all future Hall of Famers, were part of that 1963 club.
