The story on this card
Card 67 in the 1964 Topps set is the Detroit Tigers team card, part of print series 1, reporting Detroit's 1963 season. The Tigers finished 79-83, tied for fifth in the American League, in a season marked by a managerial change: Bob Scheffing was let go in June after a rough start and a losing streak, and Chuck Dressen took over, going 55-47 the rest of the way. The front shows the squad in a team photo, and the 1963 club played home games at Tiger Stadium. Three future Hall of Famers anchor that roster: outfielder Al Kaline, who hit .312 with 27 home runs and 101 RBIs; pitcher Jim Bunning, who went 12-13 with 196 strikeouts in 39 appearances; and infielder Whitey Herzog, who batted .151 in 52 games in a limited role.
