The story on this card
Card 531, from the 1964 Topps set's seventh-series high number, is the Los Angeles Dodgers team card, its back reporting the champion 1963 season. Manager Walter Alston's Dodgers went 99-63, won the National League pennant by six games over the Cardinals, and swept the New York Yankees in the World Series, the first time the Yankees had ever been swept in postseason play. Sandy Koufax anchored the staff and won both the Cy Young Award and the NL Most Valuable Player Award that year, with Don Drysdale as his co-ace. Alston, Koufax and Drysdale would all reach the Hall of Fame. As a high number from the set's seventh and final print series, this team card is scarcer than the rest of the set, but only mildly so.
