The story on this card

Card 257 in the 1964 Topps set is the San Francisco Giants team card, its back reporting the 1963 season. Under manager Alvin Dark, the Giants went 88-74 and finished third in the National League, 11 games behind the pennant-winning Dodgers, playing out of Candlestick Park. The roster carried five future Hall of Famers: Orlando Cepeda, Juan Marichal, Willie Mays, Willie McCovey and Gaylord Perry. Mays hit .314 with 38 home runs and McCovey batted .280 with 44 home runs that season, while Marichal went 25-8 on the mound. The season's signature moment came on July 2, when Marichal outlasted Warren Spahn in a 16-inning pitching duel that Mays ended with a walk-off home run. Card 257 comes from the set's third print series.
