About this card

Nineteen of the twenty clubs have a team card in the 1965 Topps set, each reporting the 1964 season. Houston, renamed from the Colt .45s to the Astros in December 1964, has none; #426 Milwaukee Braves is the franchise's last Milwaukee team card.

The story on this card

This team card reports on the 1964 Los Angeles Dodgers, who finished tied for sixth in the National League at 80-82, thirteen games behind the pennant-winning Cardinals a year after taking the World Series in 1963. Playing their third season at Dodger Stadium, the club leaned on a pitching staff anchored by Sandy Koufax, who was named The Sporting News Pitcher of the Year, and Don Drysdale, with both representing Los Angeles at the 1964 All-Star Game. Manager Walter Alston, shortstop Maury Wills and center fielder Willie Davis rounded out the core of that club. Card #126 is part of print series two of the 1965 Topps set, and Alston, Drysdale and Koufax were the club's three future Hall of Famers.
