About this card

The seven checklist cards (#34, 101, 183, 279, 363, 444, 517) divide the set into seven numbered blocks (1-88 through 507-598; four of 88 cards, then 77, 77 and 92) that lag the print series: each later checklist was printed with the series before the one it lists, so the "6th Series" checklist #444 is a series-5 card and the "7th Series" #517 a series-6 card. Five of the seven come in two states.

The story on this card

This is the 1966 Topps set's seventh series checklist, listing every card from number 507 through 598; Topps printed it one series early, with the sixth series. Rather than picturing a single player, checklist cards like this one served a practical purpose for collectors sorting their stacks as new series hit stores through the summer. Two collectible printing states exist for this checklist, distinguished by how the entry for card number 529 is printed: one version reads simply "White Sox Rookies," while the other adds a comma and abbreviates the club name, reading "529, W.Sox Rookies." That small wording difference is the kind of detail set-builders chase when assembling a complete run of checklist variations. As a sixth-series card, it comes from a run noticeably tougher to find than the first five series of 1966, and unmarked copies are scarcer still, since checklists were often marked up with pencil or pen by the kids using them to track their collections.

Graded population — a scarcity guide, not a price. Data as of 2026-09-04. Half grades fold down for both graders (8.5→8); PSA qualified slabs (OC, ST, PD, MC and the like) are not counted. Where a grader registers a variation separately its population is listed under that variation. Where SGC registers no separate row for a variation state, its slabs of that card are listed under the base state.
