The story on this card

1966 Topps #539, a high number in the set's seventh series, pairs Heath with fellow Astros prospect Carroll Sembera and serves as his rookie card. That season was Heath's best in the majors: as backup catcher behind John Bateman for Houston, he hit .301 over 55 games, his most productive big-league showing. Bill Heath was a left-handed hitting catcher who spent parts of four seasons in the majors with the White Sox, Astros, Tigers and Cubs, batting .301 for Houston in 1966 and catching Ken Holtzman's 1969 no-hitter in his final game.

Card #539 is a Rookie Stars subset issue from Topps' high-number series, pairing Sembera with fellow Astros hopeful Bill Heath. It came in Sembera's second big-league season, a full year in the Houston bullpen: 24 relief appearances, a 1-2 record and his only career save so far, over 33 innings. He had debuted with the Astros the previous September and would go on to log his heaviest workload the following year. Right-handed Houston and Montreal reliever who threw the first save in Expos history on 1969 opening day, then scouted for eleven years with the Mariners.
