The story on this card
Card #583 is the Detroit Tigers team card, and it reports the club's 1965 season. The Tigers went 89-73 under managers Chuck Dressen and Bob Swift, fourth place in the American League and 13 games behind the pennant-winning Minnesota Twins. Tiger Stadium held a lineup with Hall of Famer Al Kaline in center field at .281 with 18 home runs, Willie Horton at .273 with 29 homers and 104 RBI, Norm Cash with 30 home runs, and Don Wert at third base for all 162 games. Mickey Lolich struck out 226 that year and young Denny McLain went 16-6 with a 2.61 ERA. The card sits in the seventh print series, one of only two team cards among the set's high numbers.

Where SGC registers no separate row for a variation state, its slabs of that card are listed under the base state.
