About this card

Nineteen team cards cover twenty clubs - Houston has none. Three of them, #303 Indians, #326 Braves and #404 Pirates, were printed with and without a dot between the standings line and the league name in the band at the foot of the front, and both states are tracked here.

The story on this card

Card 526 is the Minnesota Twins team card, and like the rest of the 1966 Topps seventh series it is a high number that collectors chase last. The picture reports 1965, when the Twins went 102-60 under Sam Mele, won the pennant by seven games over the White Sox, and set a club win record in the franchise's first flag since its Washington days. Zoilo Versalles took the MVP, Tony Oliva led the American League at .321, and Mudcat Grant won 21 games; Metropolitan Stadium also hosted that summer's All-Star Game. Three Hall of Famers stood in that clubhouse: Jim Kaat, Harmon Killebrew and Tony Oliva. Sandy Koufax shut them out in Game 7, and the Dodgers took the World Series in seven.

Three of them, #303 Indians, #326 Braves and #404 Pirates, were printed with and without a dot between the standings line and the league name in the band at the foot of the front, and both states are tracked here.

Why is #526 harder to find?

598 cards, tracked as 613 collectible states. Numbers run from 1 to 598 with no gaps and no number used twice, and 14 cards carry catalogued print variations - five checklists, the trade and sold statement backs, the three-state #43 Don Landrum, three team-card dot pairs and the #161 Jerry Lumpe white streak - that the master set counts separately.
