About this card

Nineteen of the twenty 1967 franchises have a team card; Houston has none for the fourth straight year - its last was the 1963 Colt .45's card. The Kansas City Athletics card is the franchise's last before the move to Oakland.

The story on this card

This team card reports the 1966 Dodgers, who edged San Francisco and Pittsburgh in a race that ran to the season's final day, winning 21 of their last 31 games to finish 95-67 and capture Walter Alston's third pennant in four years. Sandy Koufax closed his career with a 27-9 record, a 1.73 ERA and his third Cy Young Award, while Don Drysdale went 13-16 and rookie Don Sutton chipped in 12 wins as the staff posted the league's lowest ERA in 23 years. Los Angeles was swept in four games by Baltimore in the World Series, and Koufax retired soon after with an arthritic elbow. Card #503 is a team card from print series 6, with a posed team photo on the front; the back lists the 1966 batting and pitching leaders and every pitcher's record against each opponent, among them Koufax at 27-9, Drysdale at 13-16 and Sutton at 12-12.
