The story on this card
The 1966 Phillies finished 87-75, fourth in the National League, eight games behind the pennant-winning Dodgers, under manager Gene Mauch, playing their home games at Connie Mack Stadium. Third baseman Dick Allen anchored the lineup, batting .317 with a league-leading .632 slugging percentage, 40 home runs (a career high) and 110 RBIs in 141 games despite a shoulder injury, while Jim Bunning went 19-14 with a 2.41 ERA across a career-high 314 innings, matching a personal best with 14 strikeouts in one June start. Fergie Jenkins opened the season with the club before an April trade sent him, John Herrnstein, and Adolfo Phillips to the Cubs for Larry Jackson and Bob Buhl. Card 102 is the Phillies' entry in Topps' 1967 team-card run, issued in the set's first print series.
