The story on this card
Card 221 in the 1968 Topps set is the Atlanta Braves team card, part of the third print series. It reports on a 1967 club that finished 77-85 and seventh in the National League under manager Billy Hitchcock, a losing season for a franchise that had contended just a few years earlier. The 1967 roster included three future Hall of Famers: Hank Aaron, who hit .307 with 39 home runs and 109 RBIs in right field; catcher Joe Torre, who batted .277 with 20 homers; and knuckleballer Phil Niekro, who posted a 1.87 ERA over 46 games. Third baseman Clete Boyer added 26 home runs. The card reports the Atlanta club early in the franchise's Georgia years.
