The story on this card

Card 497, from the sixth print series, is the St. Louis Cardinals team card, reporting a dominant 1967 season: a 101-60 record and the National League pennant by 10.5 games over San Francisco, followed by a seven-game World Series win over Boston. Orlando Cepeda was the unanimous NL MVP, batting .325 with 25 home runs and 111 RBIs. Bob Gibson missed nearly a third of the season with a broken leg suffered on a Roberto Clemente line drive, then returned to throw three complete games in the Series, posting a 1.00 ERA with 26 strikeouts. Lou Brock, Steve Carlton, and Red Schoendienst, the club's manager, round out the Hall of Fame presence on the 1967 club, capping a championship year for the team Cepeda nicknamed El Birdos.
