About this card
The seven checklist cards (#57, 107, 214, 314, 412, 504, 582) each list one series, and every checklist after the first was printed inside the series before the one it lists - #107 "2nd Series Check List" is a series-1 card. Six of the seven carry an inset photo of a star player, and two of them (#107 and #582) exist in two printing states.
The story on this card
Card 314 is the fourth of seven series checklists in the 1969 Topps set, listing the fourth series' 98 cards, from card 328, Joe Horlen, through card 425, Carl Yastrzemski. It is printed in the third series, one series ahead of the run it inventories. In place of a subject of its own it carries a small photo of a star player at the top, here Dodgers pitcher Don Drysdale, a device Topps used to make the reference cards more appealing to pull from a pack. It belongs to what was then the largest set Topps had ever issued, 664 cards across seven print runs.
