1969 Topps #361 Gary Holman
Named to the 1968 Topps All-Star Rookie team after hitting .294 in his debut season.

About Gary Holman
Gary Holman's 1969 Topps card, #361 in the fourth print series, carries a Washington Senators uniform and reports his rookie-team honors. He had earned that recognition in 1968 by hitting .294 in 75 games as a spot first baseman and outfielder, good enough to land him on the Topps All-Star Rookie team pictured on the card. A recognized rookie card, it caught him at his statistical peak; his follow-up 1969 season would be his last, as a slow start got him sent to the minors that June.
Gary Richard Holman was a first baseman and outfielder from Long Beach, California, who batted and threw left-handed and stood 6 feet 1 inch. He signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1964 after attending the University of Southern California, then was taken by the Washington Senators in the first-year player draft. After developing in the Senators' farm system, Holman reached the majors in late June 1968 following 60 games at Triple-A. Playing behind regular first baseman Mike Epstein and filling in as an outfielder, he hit .294 with 25 hits in 75 games for a last-place Washington club, production strong enough to earn him a spot on the 1968 Topps All-Star Rookie team. He could not build on that showing in 1969, managing only five hits in 31 at-bats over the season's first two months before Washington sent him to the minors in June. He did not return to the majors and closed his two-year career with a .259 average, 30 hits and nine RBI in 116 games.
